How to deal with raw Chinese herbs
1: The shop now offers a herb-cooking service so patients don't have to cook the herbs themselves. It's easy to take home herb soups (up to 14 small bags for 7 days) and store them in the fridge. To enjoy the soup, simply heat it in a microwave or boil water before drinking.
2: If you prefer to cook the herbs yourself, you'll need a non-metallic pot such as clay, enamel, or glass. Follow these steps to prepare the herbs:
Put one packet of herbs in the pot with around 3 cups of water (water has to cover all herbs) and let it soak for half an hour.
Place the pot on the stove and bring it to a boil, then gently simmer until 1 cup of liquid remains (approximately 40 minutes). Strain the liquid into a bowl.
Add another 2 cups of water to the same herbs, bring it to a boil, then gently simmer until 1 cup of liquid remains (approximately 30 minutes). Strain the liquid into the same bowl and mix them together.
Divide the herb liquid into 2 cups and drink one after breakfast and the other after dinner. You can cook 2 bags at once or prepare herbs ahead of time and store them in the fridge.
Heat the herb soup on the stove or in a microwave before drinking. Use a timer to avoid burning or overcooking the herbs.
How to deal with extracted concentrated Chinese medicine herb powder
To prepare the herb powder, dissolve one serving in one cup of boiling water and wait until it's warm before drinking.
How long my appointment will take
For the first visit, expect to spend one hour, with 30 minutes for consultation and another 30 minutes for herb dispensing. For follow-up visits, plan on 30-45 minutes.
